Patch Backings
A guide to choosing the right backing for your pool patches! Choose from iron-on, velcro, and our signature peel & stick adhesive backing. With three backings to choose from, you can put your pool patches on almost anything!
-
Peel & Stick Adhesive
No heat needed! This adhesive backing makes applying your favorite patches easier than ever before! This backing will stick to a variety of surfaces, including hard surfaces, synthetic materials, and natural fabrics. We find this backing to be stronger and longer lasting than traditional iron-on.
Application: Clean desired surface thoroughly. Use pull tab to remove contact paper backing. Place the patch in the desired position and apply firm pressure for at least 60 seconds. Best applied at 75°F. This adhesive is pressure activated, so adequate pressure is important for the best application. Your patch will be fully bonded in 3 days. As always, we recommend also stitching your patch in place for the most permanent fixture.
-
Iron-on
Iron on garment of your choice! Remember, iron-on is not a permanent fixture, so we always recommend also stitching your patch in place. Iron-on may not be suitable for all surfaces, as heat may damage some fabrics and materials.
Application: Place patch in desired location on garment, and cover with a spare piece of fabric. Using iron set to medium-high heat, apply firm pressure to patch with iron for 30-45 seconds. Turn garment inside out and repeat ironing on the backside of the patch. Allow to cool and check to see if glue has adhered. Repeat process as necessary.

Hook & Loop Fastener
The big V. This classic hook & loop backing is the perfect way to switch and swap your patches any time. Your patch comes with the hook-side (rough & rigid) applied to the back of the patch, ready for an existing loop-side surface (soft & fuzzy.) If you want to receive a matching loop-side piece to glue or sew onto your surface, select our Hook & Loop option.
Can I wash my patches?
Patches can be washed – but we recommend washing your patches sparingly! For the least wear and tear on your patches, wash by hand! Any garments machine laundered with patches applies should be washed in cold water on a gentle cycle only, and hung to dry or tumble-dried on low. As with any textiles, washing can cause some wear, fading, or warping of your patches over time.
Pool Patches assumes no responsibility for damage incurred to garments from the application of patches! Remember, peel & stick and iron-on are semipermanent applications. If you remove a patch applied with one of these backings, there can be adhesive left behind.
If you believe there's a defect or issue with your patch, please let us know! We want to make it right.
